IAEA is a non-profit organisation active in the science of aesthetics.
Hence, all aspects of aesthetics belong to the field of interest of its
members. The organisation basically feels responsible to give the
scientific research on aesthetics an international forum of discussion
and exchange.
As to the scientific methodology all those methods used in the experimental
psycho-biological and empirical social sciences are among the approaches valid for research in the arts
and related fields. As aesthetics is much broader than the field of the
arts the objects if interest range from environmental conditions to the
problems of dance & theatre, museums or other places of aesthetic
interest.
Hence, a great area of research are studies into to
the human capacity to perform aesthetic judgements, to be creative and
to receive aesthetic stimuli of a great amount of different fields: music,
poetry, paintings and the visual arts, dance - or generally: the
performing arts - new forms of aesthetics as video and computer
animated displays, as well as everyday life aesthetics.
As a truly international association we have members around the world
and, thus, different cultural forms of aesthetics are represented in the
association. The team of president, secretary-general and treasurer is
accompanied by a staff of vice-presidents taking on responsibility for
different regions in the world. Thus we bring together researchers of
different fields and different national and cultural background.
